K-Laser Therapy
June 14th, 2011
Simply stated, K-Laser Therapy is the use of specific wavelengths of light for muscle therapy, pain reduction, and the strengthening of deep tissue repair. The K-Laser uses red and near infrared light for therapeutic purposes and doctors are seeing positive results such as improved healing time, increased circulation, and decreased swelling. Added energy and stimulation are early effects cited in much of the literature about K-Laser therapy.
The positive effects and benefits of light therapy on cells has been known for over a hundred years, however harnessing the laser therapy was only accomplished in the last 1960′s with the first low-power laser suitable for treating pain becoming available in the late 1970′s. Since then laser therapy has been popular by physical therapists, nurses, and doctors in Europe and is quickly becoming the therapy of choice in the United States.
Known Benefits
Multiple studies show that laser therapy can benefit the following conditions:
- Acne
- Arthritis
- Back Pain
- Carpal Tunnel
- Cerebral Palsy
- Diabetes
- Fibromyalgia
- Headaches/Migraine
- Hearing Disorders
- Herpes
- Hypertension
- Knee Pain
- Maxillofacial Disorders
- Planter Fascitis
- Scars
- Shoulder Pain
- Skin Disorders
- Sports Injuries
- Tendonitis
- Pain (Musculoskeletal, Myofascial, Nerve)
- Work or Auto Related Injuries
- Respiratory Disorders (Asthma, Bronchitis, Pleurisy, Pneumonia, Sinusitis, Tuberculosis)
Research demonstrates that any of the above listed injuries and conditions treated with the K-Laser Therapy heal faster and show an increased strengthening effect on tissue repair and can even improve immune response. Laser therapy improves blood flow and lymphatic drainage and is an effective means of relief for many painful syndromes and inflammation. K-Laser Therapy has also shown to benefit soft tissue and bone repair while enhancing nerve regeneration and function. With an increase in blood flow to the body’s muscles and tissue there is no end in sight to the improved health of the body due to laser therapy.
FAQs
Q: Why is Laser Therapy better than some other forms of treatment?
A: Laser therapy does not require the use of drugs or surgery and there are fewer side effects and risks. Studies have shown that it is equal to or more effective than other forms of physical therapy while being quicker and much more convenient.
Q: How many laser sessions are necessary?
A: Usually ten to fifteen sessions are sufficient to achieve a treatment goal. However, many patients note improvement in their condition in just one or two sessions. These sessions may be scheduled at two to three times per week for short duration treatment, or once or twice per week with longer treatment protocols.
Q: What about side effects, or other risks?
A: There have been cases where pain was slightly increased after a treatment. But remember, pain should not be the only judgment of your condition. Increased pain may be due to an increase in localized blood flow, increased vascular activity, increased cellular activity, or a number of other effects. During more than twenty years of use of therapeutic lasers all over the world, very few side effects have ever been reported. Contrast that with the side effects of prescription drugs or surgery and laser therapy has an amazingly safe track record.
Q: What does it feel like to get a laser therapy treatment?
A: You really don’t feel very much. There may be a slight warming sensation since the laser uses an infrared wavelength or you might feel a little tingling sensation.
Q: When will I feel better?
A: Some patients feel improvement in their condition after the very first treatment but sometimes there will not be a noticeable improvement for a number of treatments. This does not mean that nothing is happening because each treatment is cumulative and results are often felt after 5 or 6 sessions.
Q: How long does each treatment take?
A: Thanks to the higher power output of the K-Laser than previous lasers, treatment times are shortened so you won’t miss too much of your busy life. Most treatments take only a few minutes.

Lilburn Chiropractic Therapy
November 22nd, 2010
Chiropractic Therapy: What It is and What to Expect

Lilburn chiropractic therapy focuses on the relationship between the structure of the body (mainly the spine) and the function of the body. Chiropractic therapy is used primarily to treat musculoskeletal conditions, those affecting the muscles, joints, bones, cartilage, ligaments, and tendons. Chiropractic therapy is based on the concept that the body has the power to heal itself and that the structure and function of the body have a close relationship that can be normalized through therapy in order to help the body heal.
When you visit NACC for Lilburn chiropractic therapy for the first time, a doctor will take you health history and give you a physical examination focusing on the spine. You may also be X-rayed or put through other tests if the doctor deems them necessary. If the doctor then determines that you are an appropriate candidate for Lilburn chiropractic therapy, he will set up a treatment plan for you.
Your treatment plan will likely consist of one or more adjustments, also known as manual therapy. These adjustments are performed by the hands and often involve controlled force to the joints on or around the spine. This manual therapy is performed to increase the range and quality of motion in the area being treated. Other treatments that you may go through during chiropractic therapy include mobilization (movement of a joint through its range of motion), massage, application of heat or ice, electrical stimulation, and ultrasound. Rest assured that the risk associated with chiropractic therapy is minimal to none.
Chiropractic therapy has been proven to be beneficial for people with all types of conditions including women with breast cancer. Studies have shown that chiropractic therapy performed on women who have received breast cancer treatment can help relieve headaches and back and joint pain. In the future, chiropractic therapy may be able to relieve menopausal symptoms in breast cancer survivors.
If you have breast cancer or any other condition and you need Lilburn chiropractic therapy, do not hesitate to call or visit NACC today!
